Boca's Back!
Vertigo Sounds.. |
Boca45's second LP 'Vertigo Sounds' is stuffed with full-flavoured soul and funk, deftly coupled with crunchy, hip hop beats and b-boy breaks. musically ambitious and indulgent with real instrumentation, Bass from Jim Barr (Portishead) and Strings from Ben Salisbury (David Attenborough's 'Life Of Mammals'!) are seamlessly woven together by Boca's signature cut and paste style with each track containing elements of 60’s and 70‘s rock, soundtracks and soul. Boca45's debut LP 'Pitch Sounds' (released on Grand Central in 2004) received support from Steve Lamacq & XFM. ‘In The City’ featuring McKay was nominated for 'Tune Of The Year' on Gilles Peterson's prestigeous Worldwide Awards, and was critically acclaimed, with Straight No Chaser describing it as "Expansion to the realms of Bossa and Cinematics" and Arena comparing it to " Massive Attack on a good day - produced by David Holmes!" The album also included vocal contributions from Tammy Payne from Jukes who are signed to Badly Drawn Boys label Twisted Nerve, Monkey Moo from Antidotes hip hop crew Aspects, San Diego based Mc Profile from The Sound Providers as well as Bristol based MC's Retna and Reds. Boca 45 has previosly recorded with Portisheads tour DJ Andy Smith as Dynamo Productions who released their album Analogue on Illicit recordings (UK), Unique records (Germany) and Invada records in Australia.
